Assignment 2 changes made

Week 7, to start off my character design, I decided I needed to change it up and to edit my original design of my original character :
This is because I thought my character seems really Flat.

The head shape isn't very distinctive and it certainly doesn't look like very turkey-like. I initially wanted my turkey to be severely overweight so as to make her look like the least unlikely candidate for a fighter.

But, ambitious as that was, it was a bit hard trying to make it look well...fighter like. I tried referencing the only fat animated fighting character I know: Po from Kung fu panda:

Then I realised that.....Po was able to rock the overweight look because he wasn't fully dressed....the same could be said for sumo wrestlers. When I tried to dress my overweight turkeys in clothes, let's just say the design is less than satisfactory. So I dropped the overweight body shape and made my character to be a bit on the lean side.

Before I started to change my character design to be less flat I started referencing some materials:
So, after various research gathering later, I came up with some silhouette designs of the turkey head that I designed:
With these silhouette studies, I further designed it in much more concrete forms:
 In the end, I chose attempt #5 because I thought it looks the most interesting, but I quite liked the eyes from attempt #3 so for the final design, I tried to incorporate the eyes into the design of #3:
After that, I was somewhat satisfied with the facial design of the turkey's features.So, I moved on to editing the body shape of the turkey. I couldn't decide whether I should design my character in an upright position or a 'traditional turkey pose'.

In the end, I chose attempt #08 because while it may look simple, it works because it's easier to draw fighting poses with this body structure.
Eventually, I came up with some poses:

After that, I tried to experiment with some colour studies. I tried to incorporate some colour theory tips I learnt from some online tutorials:  http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/093/d/f/tutorial__18___a_possible_path_on_the_color_map_by_aquasixio-d60ajae.jpg

I tried to incorporate all of that into my own painting:
it looks bad.................................. :^;
I debunked another too ambitious idea, so I just went back to what I know:
I guess it looks better, but there are still improvements that could be made.
